WHAT IS ANXIETY?

It is a general and permeating sense of uneasiness with or without an identified source. Anxiety while often felt through physical sensations in the body, is a state of mind that keeps us caught in the realm of unproductive and fear-based thinking. Anxiety creates hyper-vigilance and places us on high alert.

Whilst everyone experiences anxiety differently, some common manifestations include:

  • intrusive or incessant thoughts

  • tightness in chest / rapid heart beat

  • feeling like you can’t take a full breath

  • constricted throat

  • insomnia

  • headaches

  • muscle aches

  • digestion issues

  • light headedness

  • difficulty concentrating

  • irritation

  • compulsive rituals
